IPTV freezing or buffering: how to fix it
Freezing picture, buffering or a black screen with IPTV? Nine fixes in order, from Wi-Fi and router to app settings and the right player.
Nothing is more annoying than a match that freezes just before a goal. Luckily, a freezing picture with IPTV can almost always be fixed. Go through these steps in order; the first fixes help most often.
1. Restart your device and your router
It sounds simple, but it solves a lot. Switch your TV or stick and your router off for a minute and back on.
2. Test your speed at the TV
Run a speed test on the device you watch on. For Full HD, at least 5 Mbps per screen is a good reference point. More in internet speed for IPTV.
3. Improve your Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi is the biggest cause of freezing. Move the router closer to the TV, take it out of a cupboard, or use 5 GHz if you’re close by.
4. Use a network cable
A cable between router and TV (or TV box) is the most stable connection. There’s an Ethernet adapter for the Fire TV Stick.
5. Check who else is using the internet
Downloads, updates, games and video calls at home can briefly take up all your bandwidth. Pause them and see if it makes a difference.
6. Adjust your app’s settings
In most IPTV players you can change the player or buffer size. A different player (for example the internal instead of the external one) can already help. In IPTV Smarters Pro you’ll find this under Settings.
7. Clear the app’s cache
On Android and the Fire TV Stick: go to Settings → Apps → your IPTV app → Clear cache. That way the app starts fresh.
8. Try the VPN
Some providers slow down certain traffic at busy times. A VPN can get around that. With us a VPN is included in every plan.
9. Send us a message
Nothing helps? Send us on WhatsApp:
- your device and app,
- the channel or film that freezes,
- a screenshot of a speed test at the TV.
Then we’ll figure it out together. And if it really doesn’t work, the 7-day money-back guarantee applies.
